Meeting Transcript
Initial consultation with Ivan Babic, Director, Dubrovnik Maritime Heritage Museum Attendees: Ivan Babic (Director), Ana Kovacevic (Head of Education)
Ivan: Thank you for meeting with us. I'll get straight to it -- our website is from 2016 and it's not working anymore. Not technically broken, but it doesn't serve our visitors. We've had complaints, specifically from people who use assistive technology. Apparently they can't navigate it at all.
Ana: We had a school group from Zagreb -- one student uses a screen reader. Her teacher called us afterwards and said the student couldn't access any of the collection pages. That was embarrassing for us.
Ivan: We're also under the European Accessibility Act now. We had an audit done -- our site fails on almost every criterion. So this isn't optional. We need a website that works for everyone.
I also want a members section. We have about 400 supporters who pay an annual membership. Right now they get nothing digital for it. I want them to be able to log in and access things -- recordings of our public lectures, high-resolution images from the collection, our research archive PDFs.
Ana: And the collection itself should be on the site. Right now people have to come to the museum to see what we have. If they could browse online -- search by type, by era, by category -- that would serve researchers and tourists both.
Ivan: The site needs to be fast. Tourists check it on their phones while they're standing in the old town deciding what to visit. If it takes ten seconds to load, they walk to the next museum.
That's the overview. What do you need from us to start?
