From: Valentina Reyes valentina@fincaesperanza.co Subject: Yield prediction for our farms
Hi,
I run a specialty coffee export business in Huila, Colombia. Twelve farms, direct export to roasters in Europe, Japan, US. My problem is simple: I need to know how much coffee my farms will produce before I commit to contracts.
I have two years of daily sensor data from all twelve farms -- temperature, rainfall, soil moisture, humidity -- plus harvest records (kilos of cherry per farm per harvest). Two harvests per year here.
I've attached the dataset. It's a CSV with one row per farm per day for sensor readings, and a separate file with harvest totals per farm per harvest period.
I want a model that predicts yield per farm for the next harvest based on the sensor data. My current method is "look at last year" and it's wrong a third of the time.
Budget and timeline: I need this working before my next round of contract negotiations in about six weeks.
