**Subject:** Product and channel analysis -- data provided
Good morning,
I am Farid Hassan, Managing Director of Daun & Co. We are an organic tea company based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. We grow specialty teas on our estate in Ranau and source from certified farms in Cameron Highlands, selling through our retail shop, wholesale partnerships with cafes and hotels, and an online store that ships across Southeast Asia.
I require a thorough analysis of our product performance across channels. Our revenue has been flat for two years despite adding new blends, and I need to understand why. I suspect our wholesale margins are thinner than they should be and our online growth may be masking a retail decline, but I cannot confirm this with the data in its current state.
I have attached three files:
1. **retail_sales.csv** -- Point-of-sale export from our Kota Kinabalu shop. 14 months of transactions. Columns: date, product_name, quantity, unit_price, payment_method.
2. **online_orders.csv** -- Shopify export. 14 months. Columns: order_date, sku, product_title, quantity, price, shipping_cost, discount_code, customer_region.
3. **wholesale_invoices.xlsx** -- My operations manager's records. 14 months. Columns: invoice_date, client_name, items (text description), total_amount, payment_status.
I should warn you: the product names are not consistent across these systems. "Sabah Gold Loose 100g" in the POS might be "Sabah Gold (100g)" on Shopify and "Sabah Gold x20" in wholesale. I tried reconciling them myself and gave up after the third spreadsheet.
I also have a product catalog with our standard names and cost-per-unit for each product, which I will provide separately.
What I need from you:
1. Combine the three data sources into one clean dataset so I can see the full picture
2. Tell me which products are profitable and which are dragging -- by channel
3. Show me the channel trends over the fourteen months -- where is the growth?
4. Identify any products I should consider discontinuing based on the numbers
5. Document the data quality issues you find so I know what to fix in our systems
If you need anything clarified before starting, let me know. I respond to emails during business hours.
Regards,
Farid Hassan
